About the Belgium Sail Trainer (Mercator)

The Belgium Sail Trainer, officially named Mercator, was launched in 1932. It was used as part of a training programme for future officers and crew, ending service in 1960. The three masted vessel became a museum ship in 1961, open to the public in the summer months in the Ostend shipyards.

About the manufacturer

Mantua Model UK was formed in 1997 as part of the Mantua Model group of Italy. Supplying both static and R/C models kits, they also cover aircraft and car kits. Their most famous model is of the HMS Victory and they are world renowned for their wooden models.
