About the Belgium Sail Trainer (Mercator)
The Belgium Sail Trainer, officially named Mercator, was launched in 1932. It was used as part of a training programme for future officers and crew, ending service in 1960. The three masted vessel became a museum ship in 1961, open to the public in the summer months in the Ostend shipyards.
