The HMS Fly wooden ship kit offered at Premier Ship Models is one of our kits from the Amati range, an Italian manufacturer with a long history of model making of quality kits. HMS Fly was launched in 1831 and her purpose was to explore Australia’s north-east coast and nearby islands under the flag of the Royal Navy. The length of the ship was more than 114 feet, beam towering to a height of more than 31 feet and a hold depth was more than 14 feet. HMS Fly was also equipped with sixteen carronades and a pair of bow chasers.

HMS Fly initially served on the North America and West Indies station from January 1832 under the command of Peter M’Quhae until returning to Plymouth in September 1833. During 1840, the HMS Fly was cruising around many of Australia’s locations until returning to Great Britain in June of 1846. After several years, she was laid up as a coal hulk at Devonport in 1855 and renamed to C2 and C70 and eventually broken up in 1903.
