About the Sloup
First appearing in the 19th century, the Sloup was a boat of the Anchorage of Brest, in Brittany on the north-west coast of France. Its main purpose was to collect shellfish, and to a lesser extent oysters. It was a versatile vessel, able to adjust to different uses and environments.
