Description
The Amerigo Vespucci is a tall ship of the Italian Navy, and is named after the explorer Amerigo Vespucci. The Vespucci’s home port is La Spezia, on the Ligurian Sea in Italy. She currently serves as a school ship.
She was laid down in May 1930, and then subsequently launched in February the next year. Amerigo Vespucci is a full-rigged ship, and measures in at just over 100 metres in length.
Other than during the Second World War, the Amerigo Vespucci has consistently been in service. A significant majority of her training takes place in European waters; however, she has also sailed to both North and South America, and has navigated the pacific. In 2002, she circumnavigated the world.
This model is a faithful replica of the real-life counterpart, and serves as a wonderful piece of décor for any maritime enthusiasts.
