Vancouver 32 Half Model
The Vancouver 32 was made in 1981 as a successor of the Vancouver 28/28 which already had established its reputation for her seaworthiness. It was designed by Robert Harris of Vancouver, Canada. It is a traditionally designed long-keeled passage maker. However, it has much more interior space than many other older designs of the same type. It is designed to sail on long cruises and is popular among sailing enthusiasts for the same reason
Vancouver 32: Details of the Yacht
The Vancouver 32 was designed by Pheon yachts initially. In between 1981 to 1991 there were just over 60 of these yachts built in England. Pheon was taken over by Northshore in 1986 and the UK yachts were designed by them thereafter. The overall length of this boat stands at 32 ft as is mentioned in its name. The length at waterline for this boat is 27 ft 6 in. It has a beam of 10 ft 7 in and the draught measures 4 ft 9 in. The Vancouver 32 has a displacement of 14,000 lbs. It has a sail area is 621 sq. ft. This boat uses Bermudan cutters for rigs employs a shallow iron long fin keel.
Originally the Vancouver 32 used a Bukh diesel for engine but later boats are equipped with Yanmar diesels. It provides Bhp of in between 24 to 30. Though it is unusual for long keeled boats, the Vancouver 32 is capable of being steered astern easily owing to her large prop aperture that separates the keel and rudder. It has two cabins and it can comfortably accommodate six to seven people.
