Mary Ann Fishing Model Boat Kit
It is clear by looking at the history of Europe how quickly towns and villages can develop because of certain trade professions, such as fishing. The small town of Esbjerg, Denmark consisted of just a couple of farms and only a small number of people in 1868. Over the next 100 years, the population increased to over 70,000 thanks to the development of a fishing industry. What was a small town in the 1800’s is now the fifth-largest city in Denmark.
The fishing trade was able to increase so rapidly thanks to ships like this one, which is a typical design of a Danish cutter, present throughout the harbour town of Esbjerg. It is estimated that there are roughly 600 vessels of this type, which line the docks of the town. The average weight of these ships is 45 tons.
When Billings Boats first opened in 1958, this model kit of the Mary Ann was the first that they constructed. Since then, it has been modified to near perfection after undergoing 4 changes and being renamed 3 different times.
Billings Boats have used the original ship plans of a Danish cutter to produce this model kit, meaning it is almost an exact model replica of the original vessels. Billings use laser technology to accurately cut individual parts and pieces’, meaning this kit is perfect for a beginner looking to start their modelling journey or an expert who is looking to add to their collection.
