About the Greek Galley
Greek Galley’s date back as far as the 6th Century (BC), where galley ships known as Bireme and Trireme were common features on the Mediterranean Sea. As years passed, these ships saw many changes and soon became staples in warfare.
Perhaps the most notable period is that of the Greek War of Independence, where Greek galley ships were used to fight off Turkish ships. As these ships were so agile, with shallow draught, they were able to hide in the narrow gulfs of the Aegean Islands, ready to strike the opposition.
