Royal Caribbean is taking the fun of cruise ducks to the next level with its newest ship, Legend of the Seas, setting sail in summer 2026. The cruise line is adding a creative twist to this beloved seagoing tradition, inviting guests to experience the joy of the duck hunt in a brand-new, interactive way.
A Quirky Cruise Trend Comes to Life
For years, travelers have delighted in hiding and finding tiny rubber ducks aboard cruise ships—a lighthearted tradition that spreads smiles across the seas. Now, Royal Caribbean is turning that joyful pastime into a full-fledged attraction.
The upcoming Icon Class ship will feature a duck-themed carousel—affectionately dubbed the “duckie-go-round”—located in the Surfside neighborhood, the ship’s dedicated family area. The ride celebrates the spirit of play and discovery that’s made cruise ducks a global phenomenon.
Help Name the New Duck Character
Royal Caribbean has taken the fun one step further by inviting fans to help name one of the carousel’s signature duck characters—a pink, cowgirl-themed duck with a flair for adventure. According to the cruise line, she’s “a rootin’-tootin’ cowgirl who loves to wrangle up fun,” enjoys glow-in-the-dark laser tag, and snacks on build-your-own tacos from El Loco Fresh.
The contest sparked a wave of creative entries from fans, with popular suggestions like Calamity Quack and Annie Duckley. Some even proposed naming her Dolly—in honor of country legend Dolly Parton—with playful suggestions that she should be the ship’s godmother.
Exciting New Experiences Onboard
Beyond the duckie-go-round, Legend of the Seas promises an array of all-new family-friendly experiences. The ship will debut a redesigned Playscape, seven distinct pools, and top-deck thrills like Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea, and Crown’s Edge, a breathtaking skywalk and zipline 154 feet above the ocean.
Guests can also look forward to unique dining adventures, including:
- Royal Railway – Legend Station: An immersive dining experience inspired by the ancient Silk Routes.
- Hollywoodland Supper Club: A nostalgic nod to the golden age of Hollywood with gourmet dining and live entertainment.
Entertainment lovers can also enjoy a Broadway-style rendition of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” adding more magic to the cruise experience.
Coming Summer 2026
The Legend of the Seas will begin its journey in July 2026, offering Western Mediterranean itineraries before setting sail from Fort Lauderdale for Caribbean cruises later that year.
With its blend of imaginative attractions, themed dining, and interactive fun, Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas is shaping up to be the golden ticket of family vacations.
