Registrations are now officially open for the third annual World Boating Day (WBD), a fast-growing global initiative that brings together the boating community, maritime professionals and newcomers to celebrate life on the water.
Set to take place on 23 May 2026, with events running throughout the week of 18–24 May, this year’s edition promises to be “bigger, bolder and more inclusive than ever,” following two highly successful years since its launch in 2024.
A Global Celebration of Boating and Maritime Culture
Founded by the The Superyacht Life Foundation, World Boating Day was created to foster greater awareness of the global leisure boating industry. The initiative offers behind-the-scenes access through open days hosted by companies and organizations worldwide.
From yacht builders and marinas to brokerage houses and marine service providers, participating businesses use WBD as a platform to:
- Showcase career opportunities within the maritime sector
- Highlight industry innovation and craftsmanship
- Connect with local communities
- Inspire the next generation of marine professionals
By opening their doors, companies help demystify the industry and demonstrate the diverse talent that powers it.
Expanded Participation in 2026
For the first time, sailing schools and maritime museums will join the initiative, expanding its educational and cultural reach. This addition aims to make WBD more inclusive, offering hands-on experiences and greater access to maritime heritage.
According to Dilan Sarac, Executive Director of The Superyacht Life Foundation, enthusiasm from the global boating community has been strong as registrations open for 2026. The foundation expects this year’s edition to further strengthen public engagement with boating, maritime culture and water-based careers.
