Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has announced plans to expand its fleet with the order of three new cruise ships, marking another step in the company’s long-term growth strategy. The vessels will serve the company’s three cruise brands and are expected to be delivered between 2036 and 2037.
Strategic Expansion Across Three Cruise Brands
The new shipbuilding agreement was signed with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, a long-time partner responsible for constructing several vessels for the cruise group. Each of the new ships will be designed for one of the company’s cruise brands:
- Norwegian Cruise Line
- Oceania Cruises
- Regent Seven Seas Cruises
These vessels will expand the fleet of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings while supporting the unique identity and market position of each brand.
Ships Based on Existing Luxury Classes
Each new vessel will be connected to previously announced ship classes already in development. The ship for Oceania Cruises will be a sister vessel to Oceania Sonata, one of the line’s upcoming luxury ships.
Similarly, the ship built for Regent Seven Seas Cruises will be designed as a sister ship to Seven Seas Prestige, the brand’s next-generation ultra-luxury vessel currently under development.
For Norwegian Cruise Line, the new ship will join a previously announced class of ships that will continue to expand the brand’s modern fleet.
Built in Italy Through a Long-Standing Partnership
All three ships will be constructed at Fincantieri shipyards in Italy, reinforcing the decades-long relationship between the cruise company and the renowned shipbuilder. The partnership has played a major role in developing some of the industry’s most advanced and innovative cruise vessels.

The agreement secures shipyard production capacity through the end of 2037 and supports the company’s long-term expansion strategy. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings expects most of the shipbuilding costs to be financed through Export Credit Agency funding once the ships are delivered.
Following this announcement, the company now has 17 cruise ships on order across its three brands. The future pipeline includes:
