Half Ship & Boat Models
Half hull models built to commission and mounted on a timber backboard for wall display. A good choice where floor and shelf space is limited but the vessel still deserves to be shown properly.
A half hull shows one side of a vessel, cut on the centreline and mounted flat to a finished board. The format comes from shipbuilders’ practice, where half models were used to work out and record a hull’s shape, and it has been used as a decorative and boardroom piece ever since.
Built from your vessel
We take the shape from lines plans, offsets or measured photographs of your boat, so the model records that hull rather than a generic profile. Yachts, workboats, liners, naval vessels and commercial ships can all be treated this way.
Finish options
- Varnished timber showing planking and natural grain
- Painted in the vessel’s own livery with a contrasting waterline
- Lifted or laminated construction showing the hull in layers
- Superstructure and deck detail included, or omitted for a cleaner piece
- Hardwood backboard sized, stained or finished to suit the room
- Engraved plate giving name, dimensions, designer and year
Sets
Three or four to a common scale with consistent board style makes a strong wall display for a club, office or boathouse. Tell us the wall space and we will advise on hull length and board proportion.
