Launched in 1864, the USN Picket Boat 1 was instrumental in the US Civil War. Equipped with a spar-torpedo, in October 1964 the USN Picket Boat came across the Ablemarle in North Carolina, going on to sink her. Due to these actions, the boat and her crew have become legendary.
