Launched in 1778, the USS Confederacy was a 36-gun sailing frigate of the Continental Navy in the American Revolutionary war. Following many intense journeys and conflicts, the ship was ultimately captured by the British Royal Navy in 1781 where it was taken into service as the HMS Confederate.
