Endeavour is a 130-foot (40 m) J-class yacht built for the 1934 America’s Cup by Camper and Nicholson in Gosport, England. She was constructed for Thomas Sopwith who used his aeronautics design expertise to ensure the yacht was the most leading of its day with a steel hull and mast. She was built to be a winner and was put to sea in 1934 to become the champion of many races in her first season including against the J’s Velsheda and Shamrock V. She unfortunately failed in her America’s Cup challenge against the American defender Rainbow but came closer to raise the cup than any other, until Australia II succeeded in 1983.
The Endeavour model is entirely handcrafted with attention to every detail. This model is a perfect replica of the classic racing yacht and contains all the design features of the original boat, including its three sails as shown in the photograph. This model demonstrates the quality and expertise of our suppliers. The Endeavour was built in metal, with a steel frame and pine deck. The yacht is built with mahogany planks on steel frames and the mast is made of hollow pine as you can see in the picture. The model of this yacht measures 11 cm wide, 61 cm long and 80 cm high and this model will look great in a beautiful display case.
