The Bowdain was designed by William H. Hand, Jr and built in East Boothbay, Maine at the Hodgdon Brothers Shipyard.  The Bowdoin was specifically built in 1921 as the only American schooner for Arctic exploration.  She was designed under the direction of explorer Donald B. MacMillan.  She made 29 trips above the Arctic circle during her life.  She was acquired by the Maine Maritime Academy in 1988 and made three more.  She is located in Castine, Maine and is used for sail training curriculum.  She was named after Bowdoin College.

This plank on bulkhead kit is for the skilled modeler.  Each of the two deck dories is a miniature kit by itself.
