About the Apostol Felipe

The Apostol Felipe was built by Martin de Arana for King Felipe IV. It was one of six galleons that formed part of the ‘Silver Galleons’. Primarily, this galleon was used for transporting goods and treasure in what was known as the ‘Race for the Indies.’

It made its first voyage as a member of the galleon fleet in 1629 and became one of the jewels of Spanish naval history.
