Best Selling

Popularity in ship models follows a few simple things: a recognisable vessel, a size that fits an ordinary room, a finish that looks right at arm’s length, and a price that makes sense for what arrives. The models gathered here have all of that, which is why they keep selling.

What is in here

A mix rather than a single type. Famous historic sailing ships sit alongside classic yachts, liners, warships and working boats, at sizes from small desk models up to larger pieces for a hallway or office. Each is handcrafted in timber, assembled, painted, rigged and mounted before it leaves the workshop.

Buying as a gift

If you are buying for someone else and are not sure what they would pick, this section removes most of the risk. These are the models that photograph well, display well in normal rooms and suit a wide range of tastes. For a sailor, a retiring seafarer or a boat owner, a ship model reads as considered in a way that most gifts do not.

Two things to check

• Measure the space first. Rigged models need more height and width than the hull length implies.
• Consider a display case if the model is going somewhere it will be dusted, handled or knocked.
