Custom built models of working craft, from harbour and ocean going tugs to side and stern trawlers, Thames barges and inland cargo vessels. Built to order from your plans or photographs, with the deck gear and rigging these boats are known for.
Working boats are detail heavy, and that detail is the point. A model that simplifies the deck gear stops being recognisable to anyone who worked on or around the vessel, so we build the equipment rather than suggest it.
What gets modelled
- Tugs: towing winches, staples, hooks, fenders, mast rigging and fairleads
- Trawlers: gallows, gantries, net drums, warps, otter boards and shelter decks
- Barges: leeboards, sprit rig, hatch covers and tiller
- General workboats: derricks, hauling gear, bollards, rails and life rafts
Built to a named vessel
We can apply the correct port letters and registration number, match fleet livery, reproduce the wheelhouse profile, and finish the hull either clean or with restrained weathering to reflect how she actually looked. Send drawings if you have them, or photographs covering bow, stern, beam and deck.
Who orders them
Owners and skippers, towage and salvage crews, harbour workers, marine engineers, and families marking a boat sold, preserved or scrapped. They are also ordered as retirement presentations where the vessel meant something to the recipient’s working life.

Common questions
Can you build a boat that has already been scrapped?
Yes, and it is a common request. Photographs, a registration number and yard details are usually enough.
Can the model show her as she was in a particular year?
Yes. Working boats are re-equipped repeatedly, so tell us the period and we will build to that fit.
